Hikaru No Go Manga Review

A long time ago I had decided I was going to watch the Hikaru no Go anime, and then it went to my continuously expanding “to watch” list. Now many years later I’ve decided that I would probably prefer the manga over the anime. Part of the reason I was inspired to finally grab this particular series is from Bakuman. I’ve become very curious about this manga artist (Obata) and I’d like to see all of his works. So in order to enjoy his art style best it would have to be the manga that I try out, PLUS I imagine the pace of the manga is a lot more satisfactory. In the anime as the player pauses on deciding which move is next, you’re FORCED to pause as the player thinks. But with manga you understand that the individual is taking a while and can flick your eyes to the next panel, and quickly see the result. Better instant gratification ;) I purchased the manga up through what Viz has released and read the rest online, but I plan on buying the rest of the volumes as they become available.

Last Week’s Haul

I couldn’t put these goodies in the same image because each photo is one day of packages! Although on this haul I seem to have gotten unlucky doubles, I was accidentally sent two Tsukasa Figmas, when one should have been Kagami. And for manga this is my 2nd copy of volume 3 of Nausicaa of the Valley. But no big deal, both places are giving me what I actually ordered soon. Also remember the Nagi mixup I was talking about before? Well as you can see I got the Nagi I was looking for! Not to mention the first of my Toy’s Works ARIA figures arrived! I really like them, they’re definitely not my highest quality figures, but they have a certain pleasant presence that makes me smile. I really can’t wait to have them all lined up on my shelf. Also, that mousepad was a dumb purchase, the image looked lovely, the price was good, so of course it’s a cheap piece of crap. First time I’ve regretted a purchase in a long time. Drunken Master – My First Martial Arts Movie

 After a long day of skiing, my group and I wanted to watch something new. I wanted to try out Weeds, but in the end Drunken Master won, much to my disappointment. Not only that but it was dubbed! I haven’t watched anything dubbed from its original language since my early days of anime. Basically…my hopes were low that I would be entertained.

Lucky Star x Macross Frontier Cosplay Figure Set

I was originally planning for each girl to get her own figure post…but I decided it would be harder to post group pics that way. Plus with the slow rate I go at (finally) posting figure reviews, I’d be posting nothing but this set for the next month. I try to hold back my “figure set completionist” ways whenever I think I’m buying something JUST because it’s part of a set. But for these I definitely felt it was all or nothing, I wanted all 4, or none at all. All 4 together tell a much better story, plus I really like all the cosplay outfits chosen. And lets be honest here…anything of the Lucky Star cast cosplaying has my interest, I think it’s adorable. Got to this post to see them in their boxes, and to see the rest of the Limited Lucky Star x Macross Frontier Set.

It’s Back!! SALES!

Tsuki-Board has re-instated their sale section! I was only without it for a few hours! Although a few hours is just enough time for me to post a dramatic thank you and goodbye post to the sale section *BLUSH*. Perhaps their intention wasn’t to permanently end the sale section with that edit? Maybe they just took it down to do a clean up of the shady sale items? It’s just like me to assume the worst, that it’s permanently gone.
