I knew that as soon as I decided to cut back on figures that someone somewhere was going to make a set that would really challenge my new resolution. I was actually expecting it to be one of my favorite figure manufacturers doing a Lucky Star set…but I guess that bomb is going to be saved for another day. Instead they hit me in my weakest of weak spots, ONE PIECE! The scum!
After all those re-releases I knew that Megahouse was being pretty quiet with regard to the P.O.P One Piece figures, and here I naively thought they might be done releasing regular figures of the crew members for a while. Lately they’ve only been announcing secondary characters and the Mild P.O.P figures. But then they announce this AMAZING looking Luffy that I went for hook, line, and sinker! No hesitation whatsoever! And I still stand by that, I WANT that Luffy and I’m willing to sacrifice other future potential pre-orders to get it!
I went for Luffy, and a couple weeks later I realize that the Luffy hook I’m caught on has 10 other tempting P.O.P Megahouse Straw Hats on the rest of the line! AAHHHHHH! I’ve never been so happy and horrified at the same time! I REALLY like the look of Luffy, Zoro, and Robin. I’m particularly tempted by that Robin because I feel like it will end up looking a LOT better then her Skypia outfit. Plus who can resist Usopp in that outfit?
But I’m not sure I want the entire set. Nami’s expression is a little dull for her explosive personality in this picture, and I’m not sure I like the look of the rest of her figure that much either. Also I ADORE Brook…but that figure is hardly any different from his regular release self, it looks like the same figure except with a gun in his hand and an added orange shirt with a popped collar. But I will assuredly be getting Luffy, Chopper #1, and one of the Zoros at the least.
Now for the haul! My most recent haul is made up of mainly One Piece items! How fitting! I’m REALLY fond of these Mild figures, I’m a sucker for my favorite characters made deformed and Chibi, a fact that only Bandai and GSC have taken advantage of with me so far. Although I must admit I’m partially regretful of getting these little One Piece figures (top left). I saw how the prototype pictures were set up, saw the price, and stupidly thought these were the size of prize figures. That’s the first time I’ve made such a silly mistake, after all it’s the rule of thumb that you should ALWAYS check the size of a figure before buying. BUT at least the quality of these trading figures seems considerably better then what I’ve seen of the Styling Bandai line, but if I fully understood what I was buying from the start I would have decided to not spend $13 a piece on them. I know, I know, I cringe at revealing the price just as much as you’re probably cringing reading it. It kind of stings all the more because I sacrificed other figures to get them. But I can never really be too mad with One Piece, after all Oda owns me.
This haul has two highly anticipated figures for me! Bounty Hunter Yoko (Alter) and Rogue (Kotobukiya) based on the Shunya Yamashita illustration. I have to admit Kotobukiya isn’t my favorite manufacturer but they’re really good at picking out my favorite illustrators (Tony Taka and Shunya Yamashita) and producing the HELL out of all their magnificent illustrations. It’s nuts and it’s hard for me not to get swept up by all the figures. Currently I want to collect all the Marvel/Kotobukiya Shunya Yamashita figures…but I’m worried I’m looking down a rabbit hole as long and involved as the Shining Kotobukiya line…so we’ll see. At the very least I’m in love with both Black Widow, and Rogue. I’m mainly fond of the Scarlet Witch just because she is Magneto’s daughter.
I know I’m not 100% sure on ordering the whole Strong World One Piece set because I don’t think I would be able to sacrifice getting Maid Saber! In which case I probably shouldn’t even humor the thought of going after the whole set.

Alter Saber Maid!
I wasn’t too impressed with Rogue, saw her review on Tentacle Armada.
Bounty Hunter Yoko is great though.
BTW, can you make the comment box larger?

Hahaha. When I saw the news I did the exact same thing on my blog too. I think I’m definitely going to “try” and get the whole line, but man does megahouse like to milk Chopper for sales. I mean now there will be five versions! Also planning to pick up the new set of chibi Strawhats(you see them?) Sanji and Usopp look good but something seems of about Robin. What would really make my day is if megahouse made an entire line for their video game costumes^^ The styling figures are crap in my opinion.
Also nice haul. Wasn’t too impressed with Yoko though. When people started doing reviews of her I really didn’t like the figure as much as when the prototype pictures came out. I really like Rogue though. I really should pick her up.
Rider arrived yesterday too! Thank you so much lucky! I’m posting her on my blog today.

The new One Piece by MegaHouse does look like a great set. I hope you can keep the change in your pockets.
I see you got the Bounty Hunter Yoko – nice selection.

I watched the most recent 4 episodes of One Piece and decided to watch episode 404 for the hell of it, it looks like Brook actually always wears that orange shirt all the time, I just didn’t notice because of his really distracting/large purple bow thing he wears over it! Also I just sent in my money for that Alter Maid Saber! I’m REALLY excited, I really tried to talk myself out of her but I really want her. I’ll just have to show restraint when pre-ordering other figures to compensate for me buying her.
@ Rich – I’m pretty fond of the women of X-Men so this was an instant purchase for me.
@ Snark – She definitely has a commanding presence
I’m really happy with her.
@ Leonia – I only wish Kotobukiya USA were still around so I could have purchased her for $35! But to me she was worth the full Japanese MSRP.
@ Guy – If that Rogue were done by Alter or GSC…I can only imagine how amazing she would be. I’ll have to check on the comment box thing, I SHOULD be able to, after all I have my own domain now. It’s just a matter of figuring it out.
@ Gordam – The styling trading figures are crap, I definitely agree. I won’t be buying any more and I may sell the ones I own. I love all 3 of the new Mild announcements
I’m determined to have them all, even side characters. I’m glad you like Rider, in all honesty I think she was the BEST figure I owned of Rider in terms of quality (her hair looked GORGEOUS). But I just couldn’t bond with her being in a bathing suit. I have no idea why. I’m glad she went to a home that will appreciate her more.
@ Blue – I better keep change in my pockets or I’ll never be able to save for Japan
I may buy more of them depending on what else is announced. But I highly doubt there won’t be many other figures I absolutely want that will make me skip collecting the whole set. I’m already VERY interested in Alphard, Hiyori, and quite a few nendoroids (K-On! and Bakemonogatari).

Haha. You said “Gordam”. I definitely love the Rider figure and I know what you mean about her hair. When I was looking at it when she arrived I was really in awe, but since she is so valuable I put her back in the paper^^
Also, do you have any of the side character POP’s? I’m really trying hard not to buy any, but I am so close to pre-ordering Shanks and Ace. I’m also on the verge of tracking down all the mild POP kids.

Saber Alter Maid is hot, don’t give her up! You’ll regret it!
I went wtf after reading the price for the trading figures. But I understand the feeling if it’s from a series you like…even if you have the slightest of regrets.
Nice loot though.

@ Gordan – I’m collecting ALL the kids and ALL the Mild figures. But for the main POP figures I’m sticking to just the crew, I don’t any side characters for Megahouse. BUT I’m collecting the “Grandline Men” prize figures, volume 1 has Ace and Luffy and thy look terrific. I’ll try and post pictures soon. Shanks is in volume 2. At some point soon I plan on selling my Styling One Piece trading figures, I bought those when I was ignorant about the drawbacks of trading figures.
@ Tommy – I did end up paying for Alter Maid Saber
very excited. The pain of spending that much on trading figures was lessened by how I set them up. I bought small models of Going Merry and Thousand Sunny (their ships) and arranged them all in front of the ships and it looks pretty good.
@ Blowfish – That’s half of what makes me such a completionist, the fear of regret of not buying when I had the chance!
