I’m a big fan of Claymore, but I’ve never really checked out any other series. What do you recommend I pick up next?

If you like that kind of medieval setting with the horror/gore and a tale of revenge, then Berserk is a decent way to go. BUT I warn you that even though it’s similar in many (awesome) ways, it’s a series with a lot of Mature rated situations.

My young son has become interested in Manga, but I have no idea where to begin. We do have a comics store downtown. What can you recommend that isn’t “Mature rated situations”?

@ Christine – About what’s his age? Some popular action series for boys (that I also like) are Bleach, and Naruto. But personally my favorites are One Piece, Reborn!, Zelda, and Kekkaishi. None of those have nudity but I admit that both Bleach and One Piece have some female characters that are designed to have noticeably curvy figures.
But there is a group of manga reviewers that go out of their way to find comics/manga for kids…see below

Thanks for the links! My son is 7, and he’s been reading comics for about a year, but he recently discovered manga and that’s all he talks about.

@ Christine – Chi’s Sweet Home is a very safe (but still entertaining option). It’s about a cute cat.

Lovelyduckie how about A Distant Neighborhood? What is it all about? You think it’s good for a gift to a 8 yr’s old boy?

@ Susan – No, I think it’s a bit too mature for kids to enjoy.
