My Manga Collection’s “Worth” and Recent Purchases

I recently was startled to see the value of my manga collection at over $14,000!!! It took me a moment to realize that this value was assuming that I had paid full retail price on my manga volumes (which I RARELY DO). But I probably paid about 75% of that value for my collection, that’s still a lot of money. But no regrets :) I’ve been collecting manga since the Sailor Moon manga was first introduced in the US about 12 years ago, so it’s only natural I’d have this much (lol…yes…natural…). Manga is something very special to me, probably even more special than anime and figures. So I almost never sell my manga, there have only been a few rare exceptions that usually involve me accidentally buying doubles. I wonder if I’ll be able to keep my entire collection until the end of my days, would be nice. I also wonder if their value will go up, or plummet with the digital age beginning to take over books?

Last Few Pre-Orders

Oh yes, this Saber is a must have for me! I’m so glad I skipped her Gift version. I much prefer how GSC portrayed her here, although I’m incredibly biased because she will go SO WELL next to my Distant Avalon Saber! Now nothing against the Gift Saber, that Saber has her beautiful merits as well. But overall this Saber is my preference. If GSC decides to make a trio and create a complimentary Dark Saber I will give them my full support (and money). Although they might be too busy working on their 4th, 5th, and 6th Black Rock Shooter (BRS) figures :) It would probably be smart of them if they would put out another Rider figure instead of so many of BRS. Although I admit, the collectors out there that gather every BRS, their shelf will probably look awesome having them all side by side.

1/6 Asuka and Rei Figures (Kotobukiya)

I’m a casual fan of Eva, I saw the anime series many years ago, but that’s it. I haven’t seen any of the Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone movies (yet). I’m not collecting ALL the 1/6 figures that Kotobukiya is making from Eva, but I did end up with Rei, Asuka, and Misato so far. I was able to get Rei/Misato at the Kotobukiya USA price. Asuka on the other hand I had to pay the full Japanese MSRP for. Oh well, I really didn’t want to skip Asuka. Prior to these figures I actually had none of the duo in their plug suits (godesses, maids, gothic lolita, witches…etc). Oh also as a side note I have a real light tent coming soon, the materials I made mine from just weren’t pure white enough for me. I couldn’t find better white colors in the craft stores by me.

I didn’t add in all those capitalized letters to be wacky and cool :) for some reason that’s how the title is spelled. So Del Rey were the ones being “wacky and cool”. I love CLAMP art books, art books make up only a small part of my collection, but most of the ones I own are CLAMP. Their art style/costumes/settings never fail to fascinate me. My favorite art books are still the Cardcaptor Sakura ones…but this one is right on their heels. I wasn’t a fan of Tsubasa at first…but I’m becoming more interested with each volume read. Sakura and Syaoran are my favorite couple of all time, so I was bound to love this series.

A December Haul and Vacation is Over

Pictured above are (left to right, bottom to top) Asuka (Kotobukiya), Kid Robin Version 2 (Megahouse), Tsukasa (FREEing), Miyuki and Tsukasa Figmas (Max Factory), Yukino (Max Factory), and Kanade (Max Factory). I took further pictures of Asuka and the Candy Boy duo that I’ll post later this week. I’m also taking a few pictures of the art books I got too. These were all items I got earlier in the month, not a Christmas haul. My Christmas haul was a few necklaces, sushi plates, and some boots. Not to mention candy and chocolate galore.
