I haven’t seen the Strong World movie yet and I REALLY can’t wait to see it! I’d love to buy it officially on blu-ray but…we’ll see if it actually gets released that way over here. Even though I’m caught up to Japan in the anime series I had completely dropped all the movies because it became obvious the mangaka (Oda) was not the one crafting them. I had started watching the set and was enjoying myself all the way up until a movie that had an odd art style, and had the characters behaving differently from their original designs. I watched it up until a part where the gang caught a goldfish in a huge net, and when they all caught it they laughed with a lot of joy…they had Zoro laugh in a way that was so uncharacteristic of him that I stopped my movie marathon in disgust right there. Zoro RARELY laughs, and when he does it’s not such an insane cheerful laugh…and definitely doesn’t laugh over something as stupid as catching a giant goldfish. That movie crossed a huge line with me, the Foxy filler episodes were pure gold in comparison with that garbage movie. BUT Strong World is a movie that’s in celebration of One Piece’s 10th Anniversary (it came out last December in theaters) and was written by Oda. So I have high hopes for it.
Post Vacation Craziness!
Jul 27
Vacations always tie you up far longer than they last. The few days prior to vacation I had many loose ends to tie up, and wasn’t online much as a result. And now that I’m back, I found out that there were loose ends I didn’t realize existed and needed tying! Now I’m struggling to make both my home life and work day functional again. Even though a company gives you vacation time, some people just don’t understand that while a worker is on vacation, no progress is being made on their work. But last I checked that was the entire point of a vacation! There! My rant about a Catch-22 situation that all people in the working world suffer from is done! Sometimes I fantasize about moving to France just for the mandatory 35 hour work week max. In this post I’ll go over my opinions on some books and manga I read. I also finally finished Toradora and have a few thoughts about it.
Going on Vacation!
Jul 17
By the time you read this I’ll already be on my way to the beach! I’ll be on vacation until the 24th of July! During this time I won’t have internet access and will be unable to visit my favorite blogs! So sorry all! I’ll catch up when I get back! Also yes, I know it’s crazy that someone in this day and age is going to be without access for so long. I’ll bring my Netbook just in case withdrawal overwhelms me and I go hunt down a Starbucks for access…but as it stands now I may not touch a computer for the next week. It’s times like this I wish I had a smart phone! But when I think about the monthly fees….that wish goes away real quick. The fees alone are like sacrificing one figure every month! Preposterous! Also, remember when I said I was going to have sushi and go all out last week? See our sushi feast above! Compliments of my work! It was one of the best dinners I’ve EVER had! I finally tried Fatty Tuna! It practically melted in my mouth!
The banner I’ve had since moving to my new domain was supposed to be a temporary solution, although it ended up sticking around a lot longer than I intended it to. I’ve always dreamed of having my own mascot, but my skills as an artist are laughable (although I did try my hand at drawing anime style characters once upon a time), So I figured in the end I’d try and pick a figure or two and do my best to use GIMP to create a better image for my banner. Even though I had resolved on taking a picture of one of my figures for the banner, I didn’t get around to it because I kept debating who to use. Picking just a few figures/characters to represent my blog was difficult, I have lots of characters/figures I love, but in the end it didn’t feel like they were the right representative for what my blog was.
I was able to commission Radiant Dreamer to help me make my own mascot. I’ve only had Joy for a little while, but I feel extremely happy when I visit my blog and see her there. Mascots are a really great way to promote your blog, but I blog so casually I just did it for my own satisfaction. And as I said before
I’m very satisfied. I feel as though my blog’s identity has been re-created and that I now have a partner!

I picked up this series because Johanna kept making posts about each volume. Not all of the volumes get a “recommended” tag from her, but I became very curious and decided to try it out after reading a few more reviews from other bloggers. In general all of their reactions were about the same, it seemed like the reviewer liked the series a lot, but witheld outright recommending it because they felt how much you enjoy this series depends on how interested you are in dogs. Also this series is kind of an odd combination of adorable loving doggie tales, and the occasional bit of (light) fan service with a panty shot from the heroine. So it’s kind of hard for me to guess exactly who the target audience of this series is.
