Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning

I remember a long time back there was a Spiral anime I was considering watching, and someone online told me not to even bother because it’s a mystery where you don’t even get to see the ending. However, in Yen Press’s anthology magazine I saw that one of the editors was talking about how Spiral was her family member’s favorite series. A few months later I was going through my favorite manga review blogs and saw that one of them had REALLY enjoyed Fallen Vampire. The series (Fallen Vampire) was cheap used, and the review had gotten my interest so I purchased and loved it. The whole time I was reading Fallen Vampire the covers all had “from the creator of Spiral” all over them. So, as soon as I was done with Fallen Vampire I went out and purchased Spiral too…

Current Top Ten Shonen/Seinen Gals

The funny thing is that I judged a lot of these females by my first impressions of them, and was prepared to dislike many of them (and their skanky outfits). But their personalities, determination, and skills made me forget my first impression and I loved watching each of  them in their respective series. I seem to be very harsh on judging which female characters are worth my affection, probably more-so than male characters. Also, may as well say this ahead of time, I LOVE the Black Lagoon females…I can’t think of a single female from that series that didn’t have me pumped. Although only two made the list. This post contains SPOILERS for * One Piece, Gurren Lagann*. Here is a list of my favorite Shonen/Seinen Guys.

Oresama Teacher Review

I must say that the cover art from this series certainly doesn’t draw me in, although titles that involve the word teacher in it doesn’t appeal to me too much either :) Too many cheap ways to write a high school series come to mind as soon as I realize the main characters are a female student and a male teacher…but it turns out this series is nothing like I imagined from the cover. The only reason why I gave this series a try was because it kept popping up on my Amazon recommended list when looking at various shoujo series. I sampled a few volumes online before I committed to collecting/reading the series. I must admit I love scans when I’m in a situation where I’m torn on going after a series or not, they’re very helpful when I can’t flip through it in a bookstore. Plus…as unashamed of my hobby as I am…I still feel weird flipping through manga volumes next to kids 10 years younger than me. I always feel like those young eyes are looking at me with questions about figuring out how into manga I am. Plus I really don’t like picking up ones that have labels that scream “mature content” in front of the young ones too (patheticly scratching at the wrapping to see if it’s a series I actually would want to read). Although the questioning eye part might be my over active imagination :)
