This past month I seem to have pre-ordered quite a few figures before I actually knew the characters. Only one of all of them was a character I knew from anime/manga before hitting that pre-order button! Above is Madoka (left) and Ryouko (right). I started Puella Magi Madoka Magica the day after I ordered her, and by episode 3 I was REALLY glad I did. But now I can’t stop imagining all the scaled figures I want from this series! I’ll be finishing off the last 3 episodes tonight and I can’t wait! Ryouko was a last minute order, she’s actually on her way to me right now via SAL. I just REALLY like her look, when owners started posting images of her I got envious. I read a little bit about her character and I liked what I saw about her personality too. I wouldn’t mind learning more about her as a character in the future.

The only one of these figures that I actually planned to buy right from the start was Kotobukiya’s Dark Magician. I did a last minute pre-order on the Max Factory Mari after I started watching the recent Evangelion movies. I continue to be a sucker for Evangelion figures even though I consider myself a casual fan of the series/movies. Asuka, Rei, Misato, and (now) Mari are characters I can’t help but want to stare at on my shelves. Perhaps Max Factory will do a Misato figure!? I would be incrdibly excited if they did. I originally passed on Bat Girl because I felt that the cost of collecting all the Shunya Bishoujo figures was a bit too much. But after looking at her close up in Hina’s Post I really HAD to get her! And I’m really glad I did, because I like her in person even more than in photos. BatGirl was the first to arrive and I opened her right away, so that’s why she’s deboxed. Well anyway I took some pictures of this haul, I’ll probably do a quick review posts of each figure sometime soon. I’m also working on taking better pictures lately, feedback seems to point to having more light in my setup.
I love the maid look, BUT I like the traditional English maid look best. I prefer when maids have the long dress like what Emma has (or the maid outfit Mikuru wears in the club room from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya). I also happen to adore England and think fondly about the time that Emma lived in. I’ve seen both seasons of the anime of Emma, and have read all the manga volumes that relate to the main story. Overall I really liked the series but I think it could have been EVEN BETTER. But this isn’t a review of the series, I’m only thinking of the Emma figure by Max Factory today.
Originally I stubbornly boycotted the AR Tonelico 2 figures because I was sad that no figures were made of Misha and Aurica from the first game (I really liked Misha). But one look at the Chroche figure changed all that and I immediately bought her Revytail counterpart Ruca and pre-ordered Chroche. I don’t have any images of the Ruca figure besides the ones from my old blog for now. At some point I plan on re-doing the review of Ruca with better pictures and pictures of the two of them together.
