I’ll take actual pictures of the wall scrolls when I take pictures of my complete basement/otaku room. Besides sadly the Lucky Star wall scroll arrived a bit damaged, the black plastic bars that the scroll hangs from on this one are curved. It’s bent just enough so that when you try to hang the scroll on a wall it doesn’t lay flat at all. I tried to see if I could fix it myself but I can’t get them to be straight again. Contacted Otakufuel to see if I can get an exchange.
Every time I do a big order with Otakufuel I stock back up on Hi-Chew! This candy is a huge hit with me and all my friends/family. When my bf’s nieces visit they always ask if we have “the Japanese Candy” it’s cute. But the only issue is that as soon as we get this candy in when people visit…it’s swarmed and gone before we know it! Hi-Chew is my perfect chewy candy, this time around I bought Strawberry and Green Apple. Next time I think I’ll try orange and melon. They’re slowly releasing these flavors in the US, the official Hi Chew web site (yes I went to their site) says they’re bringing over 2-3 flavors a year! Crosses fingers for kiwi! I had some of the kiwi and it was FABULOUS!
Only the Rei figure is from Otakufuel, the Kamina is from Hobbyfan and the Belldandy I got on sale from HLJ. Ironic how I’m selling 3 figures this week and then 3 more come in! Now that’s what I call “cutting back”. Even though I’m selling a few figures here and there my collection is still on the road to always becoming larger. When will I hit full capacity? Who knows? But I dread that day!
This Belldandy was originally retailed at about $100 and I had to say no to her at that price. But for about $30!! HELL YA! She seems to be a great beauty, I can’t wait to unbox her this weekend and take a closer look. I’m thinking I’ll have to do a review on her soon! I’m a fan of beautifully girlie figures like this one.
Ah Kamina…why did I ever consider skipping you? I’m always yapping and complaining about how there should be more male figures. AND here I almost skip a well done male figure of a manly male character I love! I’m really glad I have him and I can’t wait to have a section of my collection dedicated to the EyeUp/UpLark Gurren Lagann figures. I can live with or without a Simon figure but Kamina is an awesome MUST!
I had been on the edge of buying this Kotobukiya Rei for a while, what pushed me over the edge was the announcement of the Kotobukiya Asuka. I have figures of Rei/Asuka as goddesses, maids, gothic lolita ladies, and school girls…yet NONE of them in their plug suits!? Once Asuka was announced I knew this would be the set that fullfilled those needs (yes NEEDS). Besides this Rei was a “US Release” so she only cost me about $40, these days that’s an absolute steal! I already owned and loved the Misato that goes with this set, although I’m not sure I’m necessarily going to display her right next to Rei/Asuka.
Ok Otakufuel…I love you guys and I’ve usually been pleased by your free mystery prizes that you get if you spend over $20…but what the hell is this!? LOL I was laughing my ass off when I realized this was my “mystery gift” for spending $111.00. Gonna throw this out because it’s useless. But I must say I do love the key chains you’ve given me in the past, I still proudly have the Fruits Basket one you gave me on my keys.
EDIT: The above statement was not meant to be negatively over interpreted. I just found the prize funny and wished to share. I think extremely highly of Otakufuel as a company and wrote this with the attitude of teasing a friend that has done something funny (i.e. Otakufuel being that friend).
This weekend I’m getting 6 shelves put up so I should be able to go back to doing figure reviews fairly often now. Before I’d have to take my figure out of the box to do a shoot and then put it back! I hated putting them back in storage so I felt less inclined to doing photo shoots lately.

Nice stuff^^
I really want to get the One Piece one and the Teresa one.
I guess I should consider myself lucky. Not only did I get a cd for my free prize but they threw in a box of pocky.

That’s severely messed up of you to bash the mystery prize. No business on the face of the planet would stay in business if the mystery prize was always sought after or an in demand product, but it’s the thought that counts. It could just be any normal business where you get nothing or even worse with your packages dented or screwed up in some manner. This is the problem with having to offer mystery gifts or some type of incentive because people start thinking that they are actually owed something better because they spend the extra amount and whatnot. If I got figures for competitive prices, free shipping, a free gift, or even the service to hunt stuff out like OOP manga/figures then getting a pin or anything deemed “wasteful” is inconsequential in the end to me because I’d just be thankful at that point, but whatever as there is always a difference of opinions.

@ Gordan – I’m almost wondering if maybe there was something else in all that packing material. I was torn over Teresa vs Clare but in the end I went for Clare. After I hang them all up if there is still room I want to get Teresa, their prices on wall scrolls are really reasonable. It’s hard not to buy them all, I was a hair away from buying another Lucky Star scroll.
@ Jem – Do you think I would periodically spend $100+ at a place I disliked? I wrote a glowing review of Otakufuel just half a year ago and I’m writing up another even better review soon for the blog (see Figure page bottom). I had not meant to advertise Otakufuel negatively I kind of saw it as jokingly teasing a friend that did something funny. But regardless I don’t want to hold onto the pin, if I slowly accumulate these kinds of things I’ll have too much clutter to deal with, I’m not throwing it out in spite for Otakufuel.

@Duckie-chan: Would the same solution to fix leaning PVC figures also work on unbending the scroll hanger bars? Like using a hair-dryer to heat the plastic enough to unbend it into place? Just a suggestion, lol.
Crap! There’s gonna be a Kotobukiya Asuka soon? Damn, depending on her pose, I might have to come out of “retirement” to give Rei her companion, hehe.
P.S. Thanx for the “live-action” comment! Can’t wait for you to join the “darker” side, lol.

It certainly did not come across that way despite whatever lighthearted ribbing you had in mind. It’s really hard to convey that you are just playfully ribbing someone purely with text without the use of emoticons.
@jay: I don’t know if that would work because it might cause some melting or some other unfortunate melting.

@ Jem – I assure you that light hearted ribbing was all I had in mind. It’s difficult for me to see the way others will interpret my statements sometimes and I apologize for any confusion that has caused. It’s definitely a fault of mine that has shown up a number of times in the past. I’ll do better in the future, well I’ll at least try
the point about the emoticons was a good one.
@jay/jem – It measures a few feet across so it may be difficult to even be able to warm and shape everything at once. I’m not sure it would work if I just warmed and shaped it bit by bit. BUT Otakufuel already put me in contact with the manufacturer (GEAnimation) and both of them have exceeded my expectations. They had another wall scroll on the way to me with tracking within 3 hours of my contacting them. I’m absolutely amazed, I’ve never had such trusting and efficient service.

@Duckie-chan & @Jem-chan: Ahh, no worries. Just wanted to toss in my two-cent “heat” into the “fuel”… But where can I get some of that “playful ribbing”?
P.S. Hey, Duckie-chan, finally got thru all of your “Gokusen”, “K-On”, “Kenshin” and “Smallville” comments. I did the best I could!

@ Jay – I’ll have to visit tonight again after work
…your blog that is
@ Snark – He is one of the first figures I unpacked an dput on my new shelves, I put him on the top shelf in the center because that’s the only spot worthy of Kamina pointing to the heavens!
@ Dan – I started setting up my shelves the other night and unpacked her for the first time. I think she is LOVELY, she really haas a perfectly beautiful sad/serene look that grabs me. Plus I REALLY like that her base is so small, she fits beautifully in so many spots on the shelves.

WAH! GEAnimation sent me 4 rods to fix my scroll with…they were all bent. My bf asked me what I did to make them send me 4 broken ones. Wondering if I’ll ever be able to hang this Lucky Star Wall Scroll! At least they promptly sent me another set (fingers crossed for not being bent too!)

I like hi-chew too, it’s one of the few chewy candies that I like anymore because it’s not as hard, like starburst, and my teeth don’t like hard things. That’s nice of GEAnimation to send you more rods ^^ I got that same Haruhi wallscroll in my living room, and I’ve been wanting a Lucky Star one for a while now. Awesome get on the Kamina figure also.

@Duckie-chan: Hahaha, seriously? I guess you might have to fall back to the “warm and shape” technique for straightening rods. Umm, wait, that sounded wrong. But felt so right, lol. ^o^
