I’m a casual fan of Eva, I saw the anime series many years ago, but that’s it. I haven’t seen any of the Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone movies (yet). I’m not collecting ALL the 1/6 figures that Kotobukiya is making from Eva, but I did end up with Rei, Asuka, and Misato so far. I was able to get Rei/Misato at the Kotobukiya USA price. Asuka on the other hand I had to pay the full Japanese MSRP for. Oh well, I really didn’t want to skip Asuka. Prior to these figures I actually had none of the duo in their plug suits (godesses, maids, gothic lolita, witches…etc). Oh also as a side note I have a real light tent coming soon, the materials I made mine from just weren’t pure white enough for me. I couldn’t find better white colors in the craft stores by me.
Asuka compliments Rei’s pose pretty well. Rei was great as a stand alone figure, but I really love them as a set now. The contrast in their poses and expressions is nice. I love that Asuka seems to be striking a model’s pose with the beginnings of a smile on her face.
Alhough it was hard to find a spot where the two looked their best from. Both of their poses can look a bit awkward if placed at ceratin levels/angles. I went for having them both at my eye level and center of my collection.
Rei looks serene, tragic, and beautiful. Although I forgot to dust Rei before these pictures, so you might notice that a bit. I kind of decided to take pictures of Rei as an afterthought. I enjoy this figure (especially for her price). BUT I will say when I went to grab Rei some of her black paint was smudged on the white of her suit. It didn’t take more than me licking my finger and rubbing the spot for it to come off…but still not something I want to see in my figures.
One of my favorite aspects of these figures are their bases. These 1/6 scale beauties manage to take up very little shelf space because of how small their bases are. Plus also I think the bases look GREAT! I only like large bases when they have a lot of details that compliment the figure, these ones are small and highly complimentary. They really cradle the figures well, I have no worries that they will fall off them.

They look so nice when put side by side. Beautiful figures. I really like Rei’s expression as well!

I think this figures duo is very beautiful. Rei and Asuka like you said have a simple and sweet smile. Their poses is sensual.
I share your opinion about bases. They’re are not large and moreover, it’s not a simple piece of plastic. Figures should be displayed with that kind of bases more often.
Good review, well setup. First photo is really beautiful.
PS : Don’t bother about dust, it’s ok.

Nice pictures! I have these figures myself and like them alot. As you say, I wish the base of the figures these days are to plain looking, and I hate when the base take up alot of room.

Duo shots of the two are always nice to see
. The yellow background really makes the two standout ^^. Some of my bases are huge xD. Biggest is probably Shana and BRS follows
.

They have like 10 Rei figures in a year now. I have a big 1/4 one sitting on my shelf. Anyway, I can see you are getting your lighting almost down. Nice pictures

Good Job with the pictures! Thats quite an interesting background choice you made there.
They look gorgeous as a set and I think its only natural that they look a bit awkward from certain angles since theyre poses are far from ordinary.
In the end you wont walk around the figures to watch them from certain angles anyway and juts have to put them the way you like it once
